By immunization of rabbits with isolated γM-globulin from patients with Waldenstrom's macroglobulinaemia and absorption with normal serum, an antiserum was obtained (R 112) that precipitated sera from some, but not all, patients with Waldenstrom's macroglobulinaemia. The antigen was localized to the heavy polypeptide chain of the γM-globulin molecule. A similar heterogeneity was suggested in normal γM-globulin.
