Passive picocell: a new concept in wireless networkinfrastructure

Abstract

A completely passive radio access point for future high capacity, short range wireless networks has been demonstrated. This concept is based on a single component, an unbiased electroabsorption modulator, which acts as a passive transceiver at the remote side of an analogue optical link.
