Comparative data are presented on nymphal growth and adult emergence for Nemoura avicularis, N. cinerea (Plecoptera), Siphlonurus aestivalis, S. lacustris and Leptophlebia vespertina (Ephemeroptera) from lake Myrkdalsvatn, western Norway. These species are all univoltine in Myrkdalsvatn. However, they show different nymphal growth patterns and emergence periods. The timing of emergence in Plecoptera was largely determined by water temperature, and in the Ephemeroptera by changes in both water temperature and cloud cover.
