In this paper we extend the results on observerless passivity-based control of induction motors reported by Espinosa-Ortega (1994) and Ortega et al. (1995) to include the case of rotor flux norm tracking. This extension from regulation to tracking of rotor flux norm is important for practical implementation problems of the controllers where inverter limits are present, and for energy efficient operation of the electrical drive. As an example, we have shown how the speed tracking problem with field weakening can be solved.
