Publication Output of Librarians in Tertiary Institutions: A Case Study of Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria

Abstract

The requirement to do research and publication to gain promotion and tenure is growing Nigerian academic libraries. This study surveys the literature on this topic and reports on a survey of librarians at one institution, including their research output, educational background, attendance at conferences, and barriers to doing research. Lack of education and training and lack of time were the primary factors having a negative effect on research output.
