Trimethylsilyl iodide as a peptide deblocking agent

Abstract

Removal of urethane and benzyl ether blocking groups from peptides is readily accomplished by treatment with trimethylsilyl iodide which is particularly useful for the debenzylation of O-benzyltyrosine without the formation of rearrangement products.
