Abstract

We conclude that TGF-β has a key role in determining glomerulosclerosis especially through mesangial matrix increase, but possibly also through mesangial cells proliferation. Another role of this growth factor is related to transdifferentiation, not only epithelial-mesenchymal, but also endothelial-mesenchymal.
