ABSTRACT Examination of a conglomerate of Miocene or earlier Tertiary age, near San Felipe, Baja California, has revealed carbonate clasts containing Permian fusulinids of early Leonardian age. The San Felipe conglomerate is similar to a conglomerate present east of the Sierra Seri, north of Bahia de Kino, Sonora. Correlation of this apparently related sequence may indicate a lateral movement for Baja California of the order of 300 km. The source of the Permian fusulinid limestone clasts is believed to be 50-75 km northeast of the Sonoran exposures.
