Tertiary Migration

Tertiary Migration is a phase of hydrocarbon migration in petroleum geology wherein already accumulated hydrocarbons move from a primary or secondary accumulation site to a shallower or more distal reservoir due to subsequent geological events, distinguished from earlier migration stages by its origin from a pre-existing trap rather than from source rock or carrier beds.
