Abstract

Abstract We present the symmetry representations of the Raman‐active modes in graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) with pure armchair (AGNR) or zigzag edges (ZGNR) and explain the representations in terms of fundamental modes and overtones in the Γ ‐point phonon spectrum of GNRs. This provides possible means to assign Raman peaks in measured polarization‐dependent spectra. We show simulated Raman spectra in zz ‐polarization for a 7‐AGNR and a 4‐ZGNR.
