Theoretical and experimental results are reported and compared for a stub loaded microstrip element. Investigation into the scattering characteristics of this element was motivated by the desire to use this element in a reflect array. In this application an incident field from a primary feed is scattered by an array of stub loaded microstrip elements. By proper stub design, the phase of the scattered field from each array element may be controlled such that a collimated secondary radiation pattern is formed. Emphasis is placed on determining the relationship between the phase and amplitude of the scattered field as a function of stub length.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
