Contents Seven compacted morula stage bovine embryos, recovered from super‐ovulated cows, during the first hour after collection were cryopreserved by a rapid one‐step vitrification method consisting of immersion into a highly concentrated vitrification solution pre cooled at 4°C and subsequent plunging into liquid nitrogen at ‐196° C. After storage for 14 months in liquid nitrogen, morulae were thawed and removed of vitrification solution and were morphologically evaluated. Embryos were considered of excellent quality and were transferred to recipient naturally cycling heifers yielding 5 pregnancies and finally 4 live normal offsprings.
