Small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) is a transmission method working in the angular range 0.4–6° (2θ). In this paper, silver behenate powder [CH 3 (CH 2 ) 20 COOAg] (referred to as `AgBE'), one of the very few materials featuring Bragg reflections in the angular range accessible to SANS instruments, is suggested as a possible new SANS wavelength calibration standard. In the past, this powder has been successfully tested as a calibration standard in low-angle X-ray diffraction. Results of new SANS wavelength calibration measurements performed with AgBE and with the traditional method of time-of-flight measurements are presented and compared with low-angle X-ray diffraction measurements.
