Abstract Light‐scattering and viscosity measurements were made on six ethyl cellulose fractions in methanol at 25°C. The relation [η] = 5.23 × 10 −4 M̄ w 0.65 was found to hold over the molecular weight range of 0.98 × 10 5 to 4.10 × 10 5 . Second virial coefficients for this system were found to be essentially zero at 25°C. The dependence of dielectric dispersion of ethyl cellulose solutions on molecular weight was confirmed.
