Theory of Flat-Plate Ion-Density Probe

Abstract

Theoretical results are presented for the ion sheath which forms on a flat plate parallel to the stream direction of a slightly ionized gas. The boundary layer is assumed to be thin compared with the sheath. The solution obtained has a simple algebraic form.
