Abstract

A Farm labourer, aged 31 years, had pain between the scapulæ for seven months. The pain moved round to the left loin and præcordium and was getting worse. It was most severe in the morning and relieved by exercise. A request for an intravenous pyelogram was made on account of a palpable mass in the left side of the abdomen. The relevant X-ray findings were:— (a) Normal left kidney. (b) The left psoas outline bulged outward as though it contained a spherical mass (best shown in the 15 min. film—illustrated).
