The 1983 book *Class, Sports, and Social Development* revolutionized sport sociology by integrating social theory, but had been out of print since 1993 until its recent reissue. The new edition seeks to reintroduce the original text to scholars and students. It does so by including a foreword by R.W. Connell and a postscript that situates the work within fifteen years of its first publication.
