X-ray studies showed a wide variation in lattice parameters of synthetic albites crystallized under varying conditions of temperature, time, and pressure. The data indicate that an infinite number of stable intermediate forms can exist between high- and low-temperature albite, and support the conclusion that the lattice variations are due principally to different degrees of ordering of Al and Si atoms.
