Nucleotide sequence of the gene encoding the 987P fimbrial subunit of<i>Escherichia coli</i>

Abstract

The nucleotide sequence of the gene encoding the 987P fimbrial subunit and its flanking regulatory regions has been determined. Mature fimbrial subunits are composed of 171 amino acid residues yielding a molecular mass of 17184; subunit procursor molecules contain a 21- or 23-amino acid signal sequence.
