Human metal model (HMM) testing, challenges to using ESD guns

Abstract

A new test method, Human Metal Model (HMM), is being developed. A first look at IEC discharge gun current waveforms show large variations while trying to meet the HMM method. Several hurdles must be overcome in developing a repeatable test method that uses the IEC ESD guns for component testing.
