Dispersion in MSSW devices can be controlled by means of multiple l ayer magnetic films. Two approaches are described in this paper: (I) the approach; and (2) the bank technique. The direct approach utilizes a single delay line made up of layers with varying magnetizations and thicknesses. Passbands 200 MHz wide with ~1% variation in flatness have been observed in the 2 GHz to 4 GHz region. The filter bank technique, utilizing two independent delay paths on opposite sides of a garnet substrate, offers the possibility of doubling this figure. Preliminary experimental results with devices of this type are reported.
