The findings of this study do not support a significant impact of abciximab on the risk of death and myocardial infarction in diabetic patients undergoing percutaneous coronary interventions after pretreatment with a 600-mg loading dose of clopidogrel at least 2 hours before the procedure. The present findings suggest, however, that abciximab reduces the risk of restenosis in diabetic patients receiving coronary bare metal stents.
