Electrostatic decay tests have gained increased attention as a controversial test method. Changes in capacitance and resistance are causes of unusual discharge rates. The EIA-541 calibration method is used to compare actual resistor decay time traces to homogeneous and non-homogeneous materials such as ESD epoxy flooring, dissipative paints, ESD bags, etc. Standard decay test instrumentation is compared to a variety of standard, non-standard, and proposed static decay tests.
