After containers were exposed to a controlled cyclic‐humidity test, the durability of their outside and inside surfaces was evaluated. All tests were made on containers as received; the determination of the influence of “finish” or constriction of the opening at the mouth of the bottle on the Surface durability therefore was possible. The study was enhanced by the use of replicas utilizing various electron microscope techniques. The results indicated that the smaller the opening of the container, the greater was the deterioration of the interior surface.
