Abstract

Most of today's voltage regulator modules (VRMs) draw power from 5 V output of silver box. This bus voltage is too low for future low-voltage high-current processor applications. In the future, a distributed power system (DPS) with high bus voltage can be a solution for computer power systems, like servers' and workstations' systems. In this paper, a novel high-input-voltage VRM, which can be used in high-bus-voltage power systems, is proposed. Experimental results verify that this power converter has high efficiency, high power density and can have fast transient response.
