An one hour long charge carrier lifetime in a plastic electronic device at room temperature is observed. This lifetime is over four orders of magnitude longer than previously reported. This result is attributed to electrons and holes being spatially separated shortly after photogeneration. The usefulness of this effect in high sensitivity photodetectors and optically writable memory elements is demonstrated.
