Combination of CC Bond Formation by Wittig Reaction and Enzymatic CC Bond Reduction in a One‐Pot Process in Water

A chemoenzymatic two-step one-pot process in aqueous media combining a Wittig synthesis and a subsequent enzymatic CC double bond reduction in the presence of a recombinant enoate reductase from Gluconobacter oxydans as a biocatalyst has been developed. The desired saturated ketones are obtained with an overall conversion of greater than 95 %.
