The role of surgery in hemoptysis caused by thoracic actinomycosis; a forgotten disease

A high index of suspicion for this disease is advised for the surgeon engaged in the treatment of hemoptysis. Surgical resection of pulmonary actinomycosis is effective in preventing recurrence of hemoptysis. After diagnosis, it is treated using penicillin chemotherapy for at least 2 months.
