Biological Properties of Chloro-salicylidene Aniline and Its Complexes with Co(II) and Cu(II)

Abstract

Abstract: New complexes of chloro-salicylidene aniline with Co(II) and Cu(II) were synthesised and screened for antibacterial activity against several bacterial strains, namely Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The metal complexes showed enhanced antibacterial activity compared to uncomplexed ligands. Key Words: Antibacterial activity, chloro-salicylidene, metal ions
