Abstract

Super-resolution imaging of sub-cellular organelles and nanostructures is achieved by simply putting high-refractive index glass microspheres on a sample in combination with a microscope immersion objective for observation. The microsphere projects the sample's near-field nanoscopic features into the far-field, generating a magnified virtual image and demonstrating a resolution four times better than that corresponding to the classical diffraction limit.
