Abstract

Abstract An investigation of Eleutherococcus senticosus roots, using centrifugal partition chromatography as a key intermediate separation step, has led to the straightforward isolation of eight constituents. Four of these, sinapaldehyde glucoside, coniferaldehyde glucoside, coniferin and 1,5‐di‐O‐caffeoylquinic acid, have been described for the first time in this plant. The quantitative analysis of different E. senticosus samples has been performed by high performance liquid chromatography using eleutherosides B and E as external standards.
