Abstract

Abstract The heterogeneity of landscapes and the small size of fields has made it difficult to apply space remote sensing techniques to agriculture and forestry. However, with the availability of high resolution satellite data, research has led to a number of simple applications and, since the mid 1980s some large programmes have been launched, especially for agricultural information.
