Abstract

The 1D and 2D arrangement of Au nanoparticles is achieved in the larger grooves (up to 220nm wide) of lithographic patterns on a solid surface (see picture). The average distance between adjacent nanoparticles is tuned by reducing the width of the grooves and increasing the ionic strength of the Au solution. The groove width and thickness of the electric double layer of the particle govern the arrangement of the nanoparticles.
