The results of experimental investigations conducted on glass/epoxy and graphite/epoxy composite laminated beams with constrained layer surface-damping treatments are reported. A fast Fourier transform based impulse technique is used for identifying an optimal length of damping tape to be applied for maximizing the structural loss factor.
