A comparative investigation on the structural and photoluminescence properties of Y<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>:Eu<sup>3+</sup>phosphor prepared by different routes such as sol-lyophilisation, combustion, hydrothermal and microwave assisted hydrothermal combustion, has been reported for the first time.
