Abstract The isotropic hyperfine constant is investigated for a series of tetradentate Schiff-base complexes of Copper II. In this series the immediate copper environment is essentially square planar and consists of two oxygen and two nitrogen atoms in cis positions. The constancy of χ, which is proportional to the hyperfine constants, indicates that it is quite independent of ligand substitution, depending mainly on the immediate environment of the Cu(II).
