Abstract

Quality of Service (QoS) support in mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) is a very challenging task because of the dynamic topology, limited resources and wireless link characteristics. Routing algorithm is a very important mechanism for QoS guaranteeing in networks. The Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol chooses a path with small bandwidth consumption. In this paper, we present a QoS routing algorithm, which is an extension to the AODV protocol. The resulting protocol spreads the flow over the global topology. So, it increases the throughput and decreases the number of packets with collisions over the paths. We introduce more metrics in addition to the number of hops used by AODV protocol. Most routing algorithms are centered on using one or two metrics to compute paths. We give a weight function using several parameters. To show the efficiency of our protocol, we present simulations using NS-2.
