Marking Atlantic Salmon (<i>Salmo salar</i>) with Oxytetracycline

Abstract

The marking of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) by feeding oxytetracycline has been investigated. Fluorescent marks, readily visible for up to 2 yr postfeeding have been observed in centrum and rib with the former being superior for gross observation. Best results were obtained with fish more than 1 yr old. Sampling, storage, and observation techniques are discussed.
