The rotational analysis of several bands of each of the two known systems of BaS has been completed. The ground state is X1Σ+ and the values of B″v derived enable values of the dipole moment to be obtained from measurements of µ2/B. µ0 is 10.863 ± 0.015 D. Other constants, in cm–1, are : [graphic omitted] There are small perturbations in state B, and state A is extensively perturbed; as in BaO, the interactions seem to be caused by at least one triplet state.
