The ultraviolet absorption spectra of Ar, Kr, and Xe diluted in Ne, Ar, and Kr, have been measured at 6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}K. The several peaks observed are ascribed to perturbed atomic resonances and transitions to Rydberg states of the impurities. An empirical relation suggests that the modes of vibration of the impurities in the host-lattices are partly responsible for the half-widths of the peaks.
