Abstract β-1,3-Glucans having various functional appendages (lactoside, ferrocene, pyrene, etc.) can be prepared in an convenient, quantitative, and regioselective manner through chemo-selective [3 + 2]-cycloadditions between 6-azido-6-deoxy-curdlan and various functional modules with a terminal alkyne.
