The reversible nature of osteoporosis is generally accepted, but it is not often possible to demonstrate striking roentgenographic evidence of healing. A case of advanced Cushing’s disease in an 11-year-old girl is presented. Osteoporosis with multiple fractures was a major cause of disability. Bilateral subtotal adrenalectomy was performed in two stages; x-ray treatment of the pituitary was given shortly after the first operation. Four years later there was remarkable x-ray evidence of the reversibility of the osteoporosis.
