Stabilization of the presumed AlO double bond in LAlO⋅B(C6F5)3, the simplest member of the alumoxane series, was achieved by the strong Lewis acid B(C6F5)3. LAlO⋅B(C6F5)3 was synthesized by hydrolysis of LAlMe2 with H2O⋅B(C6F5)3 and characterized by X-ray structure analysis (see picture) L=Et2NCH2CH2NC(Me)CHC(Me)NCH2CH2NEt2.
