Thirty-nine human eyes were exposed to u.v. radiant energy. The exposures were made over the wavelength range from 220 to 310 nm in 10 nm waveband steps. The human u.v. action spectrum was compared to the previously established rabbit and primate u.v. action spectra. The human u.v, action spectrum extended from 220 to 310 nm with a minimum at 2.70 nm and a threshold of 4.0 mJ em z. Formulas for the calculation of protection criteria against u.v. exposures were presented.
