Microencapsulates in textile coloration and finishing

Abstract

Microencapsulation technology has been widely used in a number of industrial sectors including agriculture, medicine, toiletries and cosmetics. The textile industry, although initially slow to exploit the technology, is now generating innovative ideas and inventions within the field. Examples of traditional microencapsulation techniques, and of the wide spectrum of innovations utilising microencapsulation technology in coloration and finishing, are discussed.
