The vibrational constants of the two lowest electronic states in TlI have been determined by absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. The ground state can be characterised by omega "e=152 cm-1 and omega "ex"e=0.29 cm-1 and the excited state by omega 'e=28 cm-1, omega 'ex'e=0.04 cm-1 with an equilibrium internuclear distance of r'3=0.367 nm.
