The addition of the pyridoxine antagonist, desoxypyridoxine, to a pyridoxine-deficient diet resulted in marked reproductive upsets when normal adult female rats were placed on the diet only 10 to 20 days prior to breeding. Supplementation with pyridoxine on the day of breeding counteracted the adverse effects of the antagonist.
