Abstract A highly electrically conducting and optically transparent silver nanowire (AgNW) network with enhanced oxidation resistance and adhesion properties was formulated through poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) protection on top of the AgNW network on a poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) substrate. The PDMS-protected AgNW network would prevent device malfunction in AgNW-based devices owing to its high resistance to oxidation by oxygen from the air and its enhanced adhesion to the PET substrate, while minimizing any decrease in optical transmittance and increase in sheet resistance of the AgNW network in the presence of the PDMS protection layer.
