The new international standard dealing with the protection of ESD sensitive devices (IEC 1340-5-1) allows that people working in a standing position are grounded via the system floor/footwear (without using a wrist strap). In this case the resistance to ground R TG should be the same as for wrist straps (< 35 MΩ). This paper shows that normally for walkmg or working in a standing position a value of 109L2 for the resistance to ground of the system floor/footwear is sufficient.
