A generalized approach to the phase-amplitude method

Abstract

A generalized formulation of the phase-amplitude method is given for scattering by a complex nonlocal potential. It is shown that the constraint on the derivative of the wavefunction introduced by earlier workers is redundant to the development of the approach. The cases of real local and nonlocal potentials as well as a complex local potential can be obtained in a straightforward manner.
